This book begins with a basic explanation of the atmosphere and its ecological relationships. From there it describes the causes and effects of pollution: fossil fuels, toxic chemicals, radiation, global warming, acid rain, ozone hole. Concludes with what can be done to conserve the atmosphere. There is little information about Canada, but it is also valuable for students to see that people in other countries are concerned about pollution. Contains table of contents, illustrations, and index. Metric measures.

Points out their breathing mechanism, food habits, body structures and functions, protection from natural enemies, burrows, mating, eggs, baby crayfish, molting. A suggested activity is catching and raising crayfish. Adapted from a Japanese series. Text may be difficult for younger students, but they will benefit from the exquisite photography. Includes a glossary.

Terms used for Aboriginal and Métis peoples are outdated. Provides an entire chapter on basic resources for the teacher. Includes basic understandings, methods for introducing topics, ideas for learning centres, activites for group time including games, stories, songs, large muscle activities, routine times extended, experiences and poems. An excellent resource to have in a library. Contains a table of contents.

Using a logical process, detectives gather objective information at the scene of the crime. Scientists then sort and match such evidence as footprints, fingerprints, fibres, paint and plastic chips to find a suspect. Classroom activities show students sorting things into groups.

Does an excellent job of teaching many interesting facts about crystals. Kate, a science writer, and Jeffrey, a young boy, take a close look at the shapes of some common crystals, and make their own sugar crystals. We trace the progress of diamond crystals from the mine to their final forms in jewellery and machines.
