(CAN) This activity-based nutrition program has the goal of enabling adolescents to develop the necessary skills to make personalized healthy food choices in an ever-changing environment. It includes a guidebook with numerous activities organized according to the challenges of personal reflection, comparing a one-day food record to Canada's Food Guide, setting a goal, implementing a nutrition plan, and evaluating progress. Included in the kit are two colourful transparencies, 120 challenge checklists for student record-keeping purposes, adhesive food labels, and a set of approximately 50 cards that show attractive, colourful photographs of common foods. Although developed for high school students, this program could be adapted for use with younger students. Please note that educators who attend a workshop on The Eating Edge may receive a copy of it free of charge. For further information, teachers should contact their Public Health Nutritionist.
