In this gripping intergenerational novel, 12-year-old Angela's experiences tending her great-grandmother (Grandmin) are intertwined with the elderly woman's reminiscences of her own youth. This touching story weaves together the lives of four generations of women as they care for each other during Grandmin's last few confused days. The book illustrates the family's concern for the care of their elderly loved ones, young people's attitudes towards older people's occasional memory lapses, and elderly people's sense of loss for the long-past world of their youth.

Through a growing interest in his grandfather's photography, Journey gains an understanding of his mother's character and reasons for leaving them. The photographs reassure Journey that he is loved. He also learns that the camera is a means of focusing on ideas that he would otherwise miss. This is a gentle, easily read novel told by Journey, whose search for clues to a happier past leads him to a conclusion that the reader may have already predicted: his mother's leaving was inevitable, and his grief at her absence can be survived because of the love that surrounds him.

This video is based loosely on Myer-Briggs personality typing. It is designed to help students identify differences in personality and see how behavioural preferences are related to personality type. The video helps students begin to understand where they fit in by helping them identify their own personality characteristics. It also helps them understand how the behaviour of others relates to personality type. The video makes it clear that no one personality type is more desirable than another-each type has a value in the fabric of society and each person is a unique combination of traits. Knowing more about their own personality type helps students see themselves as worthwhile and assists them in understanding why people are the way they are. Several segments are presented and short quizzes help students understand where they fit in their lifeworld. There are many opportunities for discussion. The program is especially suitable for students with difficulties related to social skills, peer/family relationships, and self-esteem.
Suggested Use: Grade 6 - Self-concept
Other Use: Students With Challenging Behaviours
