Each of the six lessons provides learning objectives and background information as well as practical suggestions for conducting the lesson. It also offers exercises and handouts that correspond to the information addressed in the lessons. This video illustrates how teens should react if threatened on their way to school or if they are coerced into potentially dangerous situations by their peers. Different kinds of situations are presented and explanations are provided as to how each situation should be handled. Although the location is American, the message and strategies apply anywhere.

Lenora and her friend Karen, both 12, meet Karen's 14-year-old brother and his friends at the mall near the end of the summer before they leave the elementary school to enter junior high. Karen, particularly, is eager to seem cool and impress Robert and Michelle, who are popular class leaders. During their day at the mall, they discover that Michelle shoplifts, smokes, and tries to tease or belittle the others into joining her. Lenora is disturbed, but Karen persuades her to stay with the group. Soon they run into two 16-year-old boys, friends of Michelle's older bother. These boys invite the group to join them on the beach where they produce a bottle of vodka to "spike" everyone's orange drink. Lenora refuses, and after a moment so does Karen. In this upbeat video, students analyze tobacco advertisements and observe how the tobacco industry is actively targeting youth. They also discuss the dangers of second-hand smoke and smokeless tobacco, and suggest actions that students can take to increase awareness of the dangers of smoking. They talk to teen smokers, role play ways to refuse tobacco, and create their own advertisements.

STAT (Stop Teenage Addiction to Tobacco) produced this guide to provide suggestions for conducting tobacco prevention activities.
