A.Apple Pie is a traditional ABC book that dates back to at least 1671 when it was quoted in the writings of theologian, John Eachard. Since then many variations have been published. This version is in an accordion style that will delight children as they spread it out to reveal the actions of several unsupervised children who become engrossed with an enormous apple pie. When folded out it spans almost five metres and could be used for a wall decoration or a standing poster.

In autumn, a young girl and her parents travel to a farm to pick apples and choose a Hallowe'en pumpkin. Back home they create a jack-o-lantern and then go trick-or-treating. Although the book could be criticized for breaking two common Hallowe'en safety rules (i.e., children wearing large masks, parents giving out apples), it does capture the excitement of a child at Hallowe'en and the joy of a family that participates in holiday festivities together. Lizzie Rockwell's bold, autumn-coloured paintings are simple, but appealing.
