A young boy explores the wind and learns of its many capacities. The double-spread pencil drawings by Ets lack colour, but clearly portray the wonderment of Gilberto as he observes the effects of the wind sailing his boat, carrying his balloon away, scattering the leaves and so on.

Shirley Hughes's warm, realistic illustrations were done with coloured pencils, watercolours and pen line.

This publication was designed to help adults assist groups of children in coping with emotional stresses that result when a friend dies. Dr. Fox draws on her own extensive experience with the "Good Grief Program" of the Judge Baker Children's Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She addresses theoretical aspects of what is known about children and death and shares practical solutions to challenges. For example, she outlines a specific set of bereavement "tasks" upon which young children who are grieving need to work. She concludes the book with three vignettes that illustrate the way the ideas presented can be put into practice to help bereaved children. Includes a table of contents and an annotated bibliography of suggested audiovisual and print resources on death and dying.

His journey down the flight of stairs not only reveals Grandma's secret, but teaches him a valuable lesson. Maryann Kovalski's watercolours offer a sensitive depiction of real life.

Introductory sections discuss cooperative learning and logic in the classroom and provide classroom management guidelines. In addition to its focus on cooperative learning, this book emphasizes the development of many concepts in mathematics and other areas of study. The activities may take awhile to prepare, but could be used repeatedly.
