The authors suggest details to look for that will help teachers to better understand their students. They describe recording techniques that assist in providing realistic pictures of children's interactions and offer numerous examples of actual records. Provides a table of contents and an index.

This book offers questions for observation of children, ages two to 13 and program notes regarding these questions. It also offers in "flip" format the developmental characteristics of children's physical, language/intellectual and socio-emotional growth. The authors stress that because there are no sharply defined age boundaries, these groupings can only be considered approximate.

This resource presents a system for observing and recording the development of young children in early childhood education settings. It focuses on observation of six major aspects of child development: emotional, social, motor, cognitive, language and creative and further divides these aspects into 12 specific areas outlining them in a "Child Skills Checklist." A chapter on each of these areas gives ideas for developmentally appropriate activities. This title would be useful in helping teachers to learn more about students in order to plan individual programs. Following several disappointments, he is delighted when his grandpa surprises him with a bike that is just the right size for him to ride. Inga Moore's two-page spread warm, attractive paintings are done in soft autumn hues.

As Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita walk their 99 puppies with humans Roger and Anita in tow, the sound of a firetruck causes the puppies to scatter in every direction. Children will enjoy participating in the search for the dogs and will have an opportunity to practise their counting skills while doing so. Disney's full-colour drawings are detailed and the numerals are in bold, large type.
