Stéphane Poulin's full-colour art expressively conveys the emotions of a young child in this gripping story.

A little boy has a series of adventures and misadventures with several wild animals. The book is filled with onomatopoeia as the boy pants when chased by noisy baboons, is hissed at by a big scary snake and has a number of other incredible experiences. David Catrow's two-page spread, full-colour illustrations depict the action and humour most effectively.

The three, little innocent wolves venture out into the world and build a marvellous brick house only to have it demolished by the big, bad violent pig. The terror continues until a flamingo bird helps them resolve their conflict. Helen Oxenbury's full-colour illustrations effectively convey the humour and action in this parody of a well-known tale. This resource could be useful in stimulating discussion regarding stereotypes.

Betsy Bowen explores the habits and behaviour of 13 north woods animals by discussing the various tracks and signs left by them. Her detailed, full-colour illustrations are fascinating woodblock prints, made by carving the design and the big letters backwards into a flat block of white pine, rolling black ink onto the block and then printing. The colours were then painted on each print.
