How to Use the Bibliography

The bibliography is organized into five main sections: Titles and Descriptions, Community Resources/Magazines, Strand Index, Media Index, and Distributor Directory.

Titles and Descriptions

Titles are listed alphabetically. The entries provide bibliographic information, sources,

annotations, and suggestions for use. The abbreviation hdc. denotes hardcover edition; pbk. denotes paperback edition. ISBN is an abbreviation for International Standard Book Number and can usually be used as an order number. Dup. is an abbreviation indicating that a video is available for duplication from Media House Productions. (CAN) preceding the annotation indicates that the author or producer is Canadian; (SK) denotes that the author or producer is from Saskatchewan; and (I/M) indicates that the material has substantial Aboriginal, Inuit, or Métis content. Suggested Use provides ideas for the area(s) of curriculum that the resource best supports while Other Use informs educators of the bibliography or bibliographies in which the resource has previously been recommended.

An example of a citation for print is:
Roundup (Print-Non-Fiction). Sapergia, Barbara. (Florence James Series). Coteau Books (COT), 1992. 71 p. ISBN 1-55050-041-4 ($7.95 pbk.)

(SK) This is a two-act play which revolves around one rural family--The Petrescus, and particularly one woman, Verna Petrescu. The play addresses some very important issues for families living in rural areas. The setting is southwest Saskatchewan. Sapergia handles these serious, important concerns with intelligence and a very warm sense of humour. The play does not offer solutions to farm crises, but simply provides an insight into the "good" and "bad" experienced by today's farm families.

Suggested Use: Drama

An example of a citation for audiovisual material is:
Folk Stage Dance (Video). (Dance Alive Series). Reel Eye Media (MGR), 1993. 25 min. Dup. order no. V8735.
