Woody Guthrie: Hard Travelin'

Guthrie's son tours areas of Oklahoma which inspired his father's songs. The program describes Guthrie's well-to-do early childhood and subsequent family misfortunes that caused Woody to experience a youth of poverty. His songs, interspersed throughout the video, reflect influences of the dustbowl poverty and labour problems of the depression. Songs such as "This Land is Your Land" and "So Long, It's Been Good to Know You" are sung by Woody and Arlo. Because of the program's length, teachers are advised to choose excerpts most suitable to the topic of discussion.
