(CAN, WCP) This resource package is a publishing system that allows teachers to draw from a collection of thousands of items arranged in topics. Most questions are of multiple-choice format, but these can be recast in open-ended format by removing the distractors. The emphasis is on procedural items, with limited conceptual and problem-solving examples. The technology assumed is that of the scientific calculator rather than that of the graphing calculator.

(CAN, WCP) The source book has seven chapters each of which contains an overview that describes for students what mathematics they will be learning. A chapter project, usually requiring research, and a hands-on activity are introduced early in each chapter and revisited throughout the chapter. A series of tutorials is used to develop specific mathematical concepts. The typical tutorial consists of a section for practising prior skills, one or more investigations, exercises, and sections for discussing and communicating ideas. An inquiry approach is used to discover concepts in the development of the outcomes. Applications and problem-solving questions use real-life examples. Major examples that incorporate graphing calculators and computer software occur throughout the resource. A chain link icon is used in the source book to identify links to projects in the project book and to resources in the source book. Each chapter ends with a "Consolidating Your Skills" section that consists of an activity, review problems, and a summary of the chapter projects that contains illustrations of actual student work. Resources at the end of the source book include utilities, a student reference, answers, and an index.
The project book consists of 20 projects for students, in addition to the chapter projects in the source book. The projects provide an opportunity to apply mathematics in a new context. Each project consists of several components: an outline of the purpose, a materials list, background information, a link to the required skills developed in the student source book, an exploration of the basic mathematical concepts underlying the project application, suggestions for presenting the project results, and a description of related career opportunities. The projects are open-ended and provide opportunities for problem solving, multiple strategies, and group work.

The sketchpad models geometry in two linked views. Sketches depict concrete geometry and emphasize spatial reasoning, while scripts describe constructions verbally and abstractly. The program allows for the construction, labelling, measurement, and manipulation of any geometric figure, as well as the exploration of various geometry concepts.
The user’s guide and reference manual provide adequate instruction for learning to use the program. The teaching notes and sample activities provide suggestions for classroom use. (WCP) This resource has two components: a basic graphing utility and an interactive series of games. The graphing utility allows the user to graph linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, absolute value, and trigonometric relations. The games require students to effectively relate points on the graph and the equations of functions and/or relations. At its highest level, students must first probe using equations of vertical and horizontal lines to determine the location of points, and then must determine the exact equations that they represent. This tool provides a hands-on experience for the students when learning the connections between relations and the resulting graphs.

(CAN, WCP) The interactive lessons in the resource package lessons follow the pattern of an introduction, followed by a tutorial, a summary of concepts, practice problems, extra practice, and a self check. Students are able to monitor their own progress through the various components of each lesson.
The three CD-ROMs are sequenced, starting with Number, and continuing through Patterns and Relations, Shape and Space, and Statistics and Probability. In total there are 46 lessons in the complete set. The program is very interactive and uses many "explorers," which allow the student to simulate mathematics concepts that involve the factoring of polynomials using algebra tiles, solving right triangles, volume and surface area, and linear relations. Also included on the CD-ROM is a glossary that students can access as a pull-down menu. Students can also set the sound level to their own liking. When working within the program, students can control the pace of moving through the material. Motivational strategies are also included. Students are required to correctly answer questions; and as they do, a portion of a puzzle is uncovered until a complete picture is revealed.
The student refresher follows the organization of the CD-ROMs and provides additional examples for students. Answers for each question are located at the end of the document.
The teacher’s manual begins with installation notes for stand-alone Windows 95, NT and 3.1, and Macintosh computers. Minimum system requirements are noted. The manual continues with network installation procedures and troubleshooting notes. The instructional components are also summarized. There are cross-references to the student refresher and to the objectives, terminology and lesson components on the appropriate CD-ROM. Prerequisite skills are also listed.

Some answers for problems are provided, with one solution being given for those problems with multiple approaches/solutions. Blackline masters are included for grid, dot and geometric net shapes, and for alternate assessment forms.
The computer data bank includes five extensive, high interest databases- movies, sports, skiing, Olympics, and insurance- together with a teacher’s resource. In addition to application blackline masters for student work, software specific blackline masters are included to help teach database management skills. Questions address a wide variety of outcomes.
This Windows-based (3.1 or 95), computerized assessment bank software package includes a manual, a mathematical editor and a question bank. There are about 50 questions per chapter. Some multiple-choice questions can have their distractors reordered; and, for many other questions, the user can change key parameters in the stem, whereupon the program will change the distractors with a click of a button. The mathematical editor allows teachers to add questions to address more fully the philosophy of the program.
The blackline masters supplement Mathpower 10 student and teacher’s resources. The blackline masters provide an introduction to mathematics, which includes learning styles, goal setting, section questions, chapter reviews, two chapter tests (all short answer style) from each chapter, cumulative reviews, and several projects.
The solutions manual supplements the Mathpower 10 students and teacher’s resources, and gives a step-by-step solution to every question from the student text.
Manipulatives, such as algebra titles and suitable software are necessary for using the resource effectively. These are not supplied with the resource.
