This concept-oriented resource is a very readable text with many diagrams which help simplify complex concepts. It has a unique approach to physics with very little emphasis on algebra and math problem solving. This resource is useful for physics students and teachers who have difficulty reading traditional texts. It provides a good to excellent support for the DSLs with the exception of the "Values That Underlie Science."

This American book is a concise and easily understood compendium of data and information relating to the chemistry and biochemistry of ordinary materials and events that people encounter in their everyday lives. The author uses a hands-on approach to conveying information. Features of the book include demonstrations, worked examples, questions, a running glossary, exercises, science news articles and more. Numerous illustrations, diagrams and charts in both colour and black-and-white enhance the text. Included are a table of contents, a glossary, five appendices and an index.

The information on each trail includes distance, time to allow for the hike, access, facilities and cautions. This resource would serve as a valuable guide for teachers when choosing a location for an appropriate field trip. Numerous, black-and-white photographs and 69 maps support the reader friendly text. (CAN) This program chronicles the plight of the Vancouver Island Marmot and the efforts of the Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Team. With fewer than 150 animals left, these marmots, which exist only on Vancouver Island, are the only endangered mammal in Canada. Shot in the mountains of Vancouver Island, viewers travel with the recovery team biologists as they observe, trap and tag animals for a captive breeding program. Viewers are informed about an endangered species and are given some insight into what a wildlife biologist does.
