(CAN) The biophysical environment is made up of the interactions between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere and human activities. An analysis of the interaction and linkages of these four spheres results in spatial patterns at a variety of scales. This program examines the nature of spatial and temporal changes in the biophysical environment at three scales: local-as in the context of nutrient cycling in the Dorrigo Plateau, North South Wales, Australia; regional-the hydrological cycle operating in the Bellinger Valley Catchment, Australia; and global-the carbon cycle operating in the littoral zone throughout the globe.
