This is an easily read novel that includes an endpaper map, glossary, and epilogue providing historical background.

In 1942 Jeanne Wakatsuki and her Japanese-American family were sent to live in the Manzanar internment camp. In this book, Jeanne recounts her father's arrest after the attack on Pearl Habour, their years spent at Manzanar, and their difficult readjustment, socially and financially, following their release at the end of the war. This is a compelling story of social justice in the Middle Ages and an interesting version of the Robin Hood tale.

This is a moving account of one Jewish family's struggle for survival during the Nazi occupation of Europe. The book details the family's attempts to leave their comfortable home in Germany for short-term safety in Holland and their many years in refugee, prison, and transit camps. This simply written, sincere memoir includes family and archival photographs and a bibliography.
