Young Adolescents Meet Literature: Intersections for Learning
Young Adult Cliffhanger Series(CAN) Young Adolescents Meet Literature explores the many ways that literature may be used to provide opportunities for adolescents in the English language arts classroom. The contributors to this book propose the creation of dynamic English language arts programs based on a rich selection of literature aimed at stimulating and challenging young adults. Special attention is paid throughout the book to the rich contributions made to this literature by Canadian authors and illustrators. This is a theoretical text that is not light reading. It does, however, reflect the current practice in the English Language Arts Curricula, and it contains issues that may be of interest to teachers who are developing a framework for personal goal setting. Two chapters of particular interest are "Literature and the Expressive Arts: Using Drama to Mediate Response to Literature," and "Aboriginal Literature and Intercultural Understanding on the Internet."
