Careers in Agriculture: With an Environmental Focus (Video). University of Saskatchewan (SFN), 1998. 16 min. No order number is required. ($Free).
(SK) Through interviews with students at the College of Agriculture in Saskatoon and people working in the field of agriculture, this program acknowledges the impact of agriculture on the economy, suggests solutions to problems, and discusses new developments in agriculture. The students explain their programs and their reasons for pursuing this field of study. On site interviews are conducted with a research scientist, soil scientist, and a soil management consultant. They answer questions relating to skills needed for their jobs, what they like about their jobs, future considerations, and the impact their careers have on the environment. Viewpoints from both genders are represented in this timely video.

A Quick Dip in the Gene Pool: An Integrated Study of Agri-Food Biotechnology for Secondary Science, Social Studies and Language Arts (Kit). Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC), 1996. No order number is required. ($Free kit).
(CAN) This kit focuses on several aspects of agricultural biotechnology. The cassette contains interviews with experts in the field. The facilitator’s guide explains eight student activities, including suggestions for role playing, experiments, and independent studies. Part I of the video provides an introduction to genetic research, biotechnology, and food production. Part II supports activity 2 on polymerase chain reaction. The computer disks contain over 100 articles on a variety of agricultural biotechnology topics.
