Arts Education - Drama
The teacher has
brought this
particular stick to school from
her own collection of natural
objects. The stick is actually
a large knot of silvered wood
which is hammer-shaped. When
held by the "handle", the "head
of the hammer " reminds one of
the sharp-beaked head shape of a
large woodpecker. Unusual and
visually appealing objects, such
as this, can support belief and
function as symbols in the
work.
