Arts Education - Drama

As this drama unfolds, parallels between the work and the Columbus story will be identified by the students. Teachers and students should be aware that this could possibly minimize history and reinforce stereotypes. For example, minimizing history:
  • non-Aboriginal peoples' survival often depended on Aboriginal technology (i.e., canoes, snowshoes)

    An example of sterotyping:

  • non-Aboriginal peoples do not need the technology, skills and values of Aboriginal peoples.
