Observe people in the community and analyse their body language and
their presentation of their self-concept.
Discuss the principle of design "emphasis". Emphasis controls the
order of the way we look at things. Look at artists' works from
Saskatchewan Art Works, such as J. Fafard slide #57
, R.
McLellan slide #64, E. Lindner slide #63, and discuss how the
artists have used emphasis.
Discuss emphasis as it relates to personal representation.
Students should describe their own style and the image they wish to
convey to other people. Create a personal monument by carving a
block of well-wedged clay, plaster, styrofoam, etc
.
