In their Life Science class the students have been studying human
influences on the ecosystems of the global environment.
Some have
been researching endangered species and the impact of pollution on
the food chain. Others have been researching the effect of
climatic changes on food production. Theories about the
deterioration of the ozone layer have also been discussed.
The teacher has asked the students to hold onto their science research information and continue collecting magazine and newspaper articles and books. The students have also been asked to listen to the news for the next few nights, make brief notes about any items concerning the environment and bring these things to their drama class. |
To determine a topic or "context" for drama, sometimes the teacher
will simply ask experienced drama students what they would like to
do a drama about. Other ideas may come from media reports, middle
years issues or other sources such as those suggested on the unit
overview chart in the resources column. In this case, the broad
theme is provided by the teacher. The students will help decide
the specific topic and focus for the drama.
