- organizes and supports ideas
- speaks clearly and to the point

- retells a story accurately including main characters and setting
- gives personal interpretations and dramatic readings (including choral speaking)
Polishes speaking abilities including:
- is aware of accepted usage for the situation
- uses a variety of sentence structures
- uses vocabulary appropriate to age
- speaks distinctly and enunciates words clearly
- speaks loudly enough to be heard by listeners or group
- modulates voice for effect and emphasis
- works at eliminating any annoying speaking mannerisms (e.g., umm … you know … and then)
