Getting Around in this Curriculum Guide

Please be sure to set your browser to display images. HTML still is very bad at displaying mathematical symbols so we've had to resort to GIF images a lot.

You can link to the various pages from the text links in the Table of Contents on the right side of the screen. on the left side of the screen links you back to the Elementary Mathematics Table of Contents, while t he encircled numbers (for example ) link you to the Table of Contents for each respective grade, exactly the same as the text links in the right frame.

We have also included button links at the top and bottom of each non-frame (fullscreen) page, like this one, that allow for quick access to pages you have just visited or are about to visit, as well as to the main pages. Plus there are several varied lin ks on various pages that jump you to what is being referred to. To return to where you were after clicking on one of these links you must use the back button on your browser. For the "pdf" format files that open in Adobe Acrobat Reader simply minimize or close Acrobat Reader.

Note: There are some things in the curriculum guides that do not translate well into "html" format for Internet browsing, primarily templates for teacher and student use. To keep these things useful we've put them in "pdf" format, which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to read, but will print them out exactly as they were designed. This program is free and your Internet browser can be set up to automatically run it when you come across "pdf" format files.
Files are noted when requiring Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing.

This guide makes extensive use of frames so navigation may be a bit tricky at first.

We've used frames because of the nature of the text curriculum guide. In the guide the strands are described in four columns.
Learning Objectives Examples/ActivitiesManipulatives/ResourcesInstructional Notes

It is not possible to put all four columns on a computer screen at one time without a lot of scrolling. What we've done is put the Learning Objectives in the left frame and linked it to the other three columns in the second frame. We've colour code d the frames backgrounds and links for the other three columns:
Learning Objectives Examples/ActivitiesManipulatives/ResourcesInstructional Notes

These are the link icons:

Clicking on the coloured icon in the Learning Objectives (left) column will bring up the matching topic for that strand in the right hand frame.

In many places there are Activities or Notes which match a particular item in Learning Objectives. In these cases a link to the matching item is made with a dot which is coloured to indicate the column to which it links.

At the bottom of each "page" of the Learning Objectives are three navigation links:

They link to the previous  "page" in the strand, the  Main Menu pages of the Curriculum and the  next "page" in the strand respectively.
