  • blank paper

  • Evaluation:  Anecdotal records, portfolios

Activity:  3 - Favourite Shape Number of Students:  1
    Learning Objectives:

    G-14 - trace 2-dimensional figures

    Description:

    • Student chooses his/her favourite shape and traces it on favourite colour construction paper.
    • After cutting shape, student draws and colours favourite things on this shape (e.g., food, pet, friend, movie, etc.)

    Adaptation:

    Resources:

    • Shape models (circle, triangle, square, rectangle)
    • Construction paper (variety of colours)

    Evaluation:  portfolio, anecdotal records

Activity:  4 - Measuring Parts of the Body Number of Students:  pairs
    Learning Objectives:

M-3 - measure the length of objects by using non-standard units.

    Description:

    • Working in pairs, students measure various parts of their bodies using a variety of measuring instruments
    • Students record their results.

    Adaptation:

    • Alter the number of measuring instruments or parts of the body.

    Resources:
    Evaluation:  portfolios, anecdotal records

Activity:  5 - Movement Number of Students:  pairs
    Learning Objectives:

G-2 - describe the relative position of an object.

    Description:

    • Working in pairs, one student performs a movement or a series of movements, or moves his/her body into a stationary position. The other student then describes and/or duplicate what has been done.
    • Students take turns at initiating the activity.

    Adaptation:

N-18 - recognize the purposes of counting.

    Description:

    • Student is asked to "print" various numbers of fingerprints on worksheet.

    Adaptation:

    • Help can be given for finger printing process.
