  • Good line drawings of seeds and their respective plant structures can be found in the Grade 4 Social Studies resource, Saskatchewan Past and Present. Copies of this should be available in every school. Check with your teacher-librarian.

    The Guide to Farm Practice in Saskatchewan, available free of charge from extension agrologists, is a good resource for use in conjunction with activity 10 of the Curriculum Guide. The first section dealing with the agricultural climate of Saskatchewan identifies the mean annual growing degree-days, mean monthly precipitation, the frost-free season, and other useful information. Free brochures are also available from the Soils and Crops Branch of Saskatchewan Agriculture. For example, Varieties of Grain Crops for Saskatchewan can be used with this activity.
