Common Essential Learnings
Encourage students to consider what technological changes might be evident in a school of the future and what impact these might have on the subjects taught and on the design of the building. Will computers replace paper and pens? Will "Computers" become a school subject? Will the library have videos instead of books? Will it be larger or smaller? If everyone has calculators, will students need to study math?
Adaptive Dimension
Students with a particular interest or involvement in a school club could be allowed to further develop Step 6 to provide a more detailed display about their club and its activities. They could be grouped with older students who share their interests and who are also studying French.
Gender Equity
Prompt students to consider gender equity in designing their school of the future. Are there any aspects of school life they would change to make it more equitable for boys and girls?
