Notes

SOUND AND ULTRASONIC FREQUENCIES

28.1 To identify the frequencies associated with ultrasonics.
28.2 To describe the wave motion of ultrasonics. (COM)

Explain the wave motion of ultrasonics. Compare it to other wave motions.

28.3 To explain the effect of a solid, liquid or gas on the speed of wave travel.

Calculate the effect by relating the motion to the density of the medium. (NUM)

APPLICATION OF ULTRASONICS

28.4 To describe the use of ultrasonics in cleaning, flaw detection, welding, treatment of tumors and cancers, medical observations, fish detection and burglar alarm systems. (TL)

Have students select an application. Research that application for presentation to the rest of the class.
